Small, nice, one-off stores run by individuals and families alike,
Making their way in the world by honest means, providing for their community,
All to be squashed and driven out by big-box retailers and wasteful superstores.
Lacking every bit of charm and character that local stores give to communities that
Love and rely on them not just for the services they provide, but for the hustle and
Bustle of community and connection that comes with them. Leaving small shops
Unable to compete with the scale provided by the big-box stores and left in the dust,
Searching for any hope of saving their livelihoods, only to be stopped at every turn,
In spite of the "backbone of America" talk from politicians on every side of the aisle,
Never too shy or busy to claim love and support but never showing up when the time comes,
Excessively putting the major corporations and the money they were paid above those
Supporters who got them elected on the false promises doled out to a public they think
Stupid enough to not see the game being played in front of them as they rob us all blind.
